CanDoBetter.com is a fascinating social experiment/dating site. The web has connected people in ways never before thought possible, and Can Do Better takes advantage of an endless stream of fresh eyes by asking visitors, “Can this person do better?”
The site’s a little different in that it’s not exclusively for singles. In fact, many of the people coming to the site are in relationships, both serious and casual, and are looking to find out the general population’s thoughts on their mate. When arriving at the clean, modern homepage, users are asked to submit a photo of themselves and that of their boyfriend or girlfriend. The pictures are then shown to CanDoBetter.com registrants who vote on whether or not the new user “can do better” than their current significant other. Pretty simple.
If the voters decide a better match can be made, the user enters the dating site pool where they can interact with other Can Do Better members just like on any other dating site. There aren’t a ton of interesting bells and whistles – chat, message boards, a blog – but the site serves its purpose and definitely skews younger than some other popular dating properties.
Interestingly enough, the folks behind CanDoBetter also cast for reality TV shows, so it’s possible on the site to submit your photo for review by a producer. There are horoscopes, virtual “gifts,” and of course, an active Facebook community.
Superficial daters or those looking to upgrade will love CanDoBetter.com. It’s probably not the best site for your mom and her new boyfriend, but your college roommate who’s still dating that loser? Can Do Better is her spot.
